Reflexión sobre lectura y escritura / Reflection on reading and writing

Como buen seguidor de la lectura fantástica, actualmente estoy leyendo el tercer libro de la saga Canción de hielo y fuego de George Martin. Me parece una historia realmente trabajada. Casi me atrevería a decir que la creatividad impuesta en ella es superior a la del célebre Tolkien, uno de mis ídolos al igual que Martin, sin tener en cuenta que es más larga, aunque en ella no aparece la famosa raza elfa ni otras criaturas fantásticas de ese tipo. Pero eso puede ser algo a favor en la obra de Martin precisamente por hacerla diferente. En ella ocurren sucesos más inesperados, y la personalidad de muchos de los personajes les hace muy interesantes.

La forma con la que el autor narra la historia, aunque en ciertos momentos pueda parecer algo ordinaria, e incluso obscena, es una narración "cercana" que consigue atrapar al lector. Una forma de expresar que se acerca más a la de la gente de la calle.

Como escritor primerizo que soy, he escrito ya dos libros, de los que estoy esperando poder poner en venta (En el mundo opuesto y Unión de ley). Empecé con un estilo policíaco, y ahora estoy escribiendo el tercero, de un estilo diferente al de los otros dos, uno más de acción o de aventuras. Pero tras mi tercera obra tengo intención de empezar a escribir mi propia saga, o al menos de intentarlo, inspirado sobre todo por la obra de George Martin pero también por la de Tolkien (El señor de los anillos) y por la de Margaret Weis y Tracy Hickman, cuya obra Crónicas de la DragonLance, aunque quizá sea algo más infantil, sigue siendo un gran referente para mí.

Aunque también me gustan los elfos y esas cosas (algo que aparece tanto en la obra de Tolkien como en la de Weis y Hickman), mi saga será también de un estilo más similar a la de Martin, para la cual tengo intención de crear mapas de los distintos continentes o territorios, distintas civilizaciones e incluso desarrollar un idioma para uno de esos pueblos. Si consigo crear una historia de al menos tres tomos habré cumplido un sueño y me sentiré un poco más realizado y más a la altura de mís ídolos, aunque sería demasiado ambicioso aspirar a competir con ellos.

As a good follower of the fantastic reading, I am currently reading the third book of the series George Martin's Song of Ice and Fire. I think it is a story really worked. I would almost say that creativity imposed on it is superior to the famous Tolkien, one of my idols like Martin, regardless thay it is longer, although it does not appear the famous elf race and other fantastic creatures of that type. But that may be something becoming for the work of Martin because it make his work different. In his story occur most unexpected events, and the personality of many of the characters makes them very interesting.

The way in which the author tells the story, although at times can seem rather ordinary, and even obscene, is a narrative "close" that gets to catch the reader. One way of expressing that is closer to the people of the street. 

As beginner writer myself, I've already written two books, which I am hoping to put on sale (En el mundo opuesto and Unión de ley). I started with a police style, and now I'm writing the third book, with a different style than the other two, more action and adventure style. But after my third book I have intention to start writing my own series, or at least trying, mostly inspired by the work of George Martin but also by Tolkien (Lord of the Rings) and that of Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, whose work Dragonlance Chronicles, although it may be more infant, remains a great reference for me yet.

Although I also like the elves and that stuff (things that appear in both Tolkien's work as that of Weis and Hickman), my saga will also have a style similar to Martin's, for which I have intended to create maps from different continents or territories, different civilizations and even develop a language for one of those people. If I can create a history of at least three volumes I will have fulfilled a dream and I feel a bit more accomplished and more closer to George and the others, although it would be too ambitious to hope to compete with them.
